Project Tips & mismatched hair clips.. 😊

There comes a time in a man’s life when he finds himself not just attending office meetings but also explaining why his daughter’s hair clips don’t match.
Welcome to the life of the Corporate Dad – an uncharted territory where client deadlines blend seamlessly with bedtime stories.

I’m not just managing programs. I’m managing meltdowns, mismatched hair clips, & mysteries like “decipher modern art made of crayons — proudly drawn across our freshly painted walls.

My typical day begins with the freshness of my daughter’s smile, followed by non-stop unrelated stories of crocodiles & what happens when blue mixes with blue until you get her ready for her pre-school. As I fumble to find a pair of matching socks, I wonder if today will be the day I finally master the art of the perfect ponytail.

Spoiler alert: it isn’t. ☹

I settle for two mismatched hairclips that somehow end up looking like a modern art installation.

One of the key lessons learned from the Corporate Dad experience is the importance of flexibility. A client call interrupted by a toddler or a project meeting disrupted by unexpected changes, handling disruptions with grace and a sense of humour is invaluable.
Another lesson is the value of clear communication. Just as a Corporate Dad must explain the day’s schedule to a curious child, a Program Manager must articulate project goals and expectations to team members and stakeholders.

Being a Corporate Dad means embracing the chaos and finding joy in the little moments. Those mismatched hairbands and crayon-covered walls are badges of honour, symbols of a life well-lived and loved.

So, here’s to all the Corporate Dads out there – Keep on keeping on because you’re doing an amazing job. And remember, when in doubt, just laugh – it’s the best remedy for any situation, whether it’s a missed deadline or a mismatched hair clip.
You’re not just building programs. You’re raising tiny humans while wearing mismatched socks and smiling through Teams calls with stickers on your shirt.
